Jesus Christ, we believe, is the only Son of God - the God who created this wonderful world that we live in. He lived on earth some 2000 years ago and history records that He was punished by the Jewish and Roman authorities and crucified on a cross - a violent and painful death. However, the power of God raised Him from the dead three days after He was crucified, a fact that has been verified by objective historians of the day, including Josephus.
We can understand that you might like to know how this relates to you today, living in a rapidly changing, technologically progressing, world. Basically, there are three areas where Jesus, and what His life has achieved, affects you. Mankind, as a race, has a major problem. That problem is what is understood as sin. Sin, according to the Bible, is any action or attitude that falls short of God's perfect standard.
The Bible says the following in Romans 3:22-24:"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
All are sinners, no single person is better or worse than anybody else, but the consequences of our sin applies to everybody. Again, as the Bible says in Habakkuk 1:13:"Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong."
God cannot tolerate sin as He is perfect and holy and the result of our sin is eternal (forever) death - Romans 6:23 says "...for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord".
The end of that previous verse is the solution to the problem that all mankind will face - either now in our lifetime, or after we die. Yes, there is a heaven and a hell. That solution is Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says that "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life".
By dying as an innocent, sinless, man on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty of your sin and my sin so that we would not have to be forever separated from God - 1 John 4:10 "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." In this then, can any other person, method or program restore the gap that exists between mankind and God? Again, the Bible is quite specific with Jesus saying "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
All mankind needs to respond to what Jesus Christ has done to solve our problem of separation from the God of creation. As in legal situations, ignorance is no excuse. Each of us will be held accountable for the decision we make concerning Jesus Christ.
The choices you have are:
or
If you now want to make that choice and accept Jesus, here is a prayer that you can pray to begin your relationship with the greatest person:
Now, as you begin your life as a Christian, these are some basic things you should do:Dear Father, I know that I have sinned and that I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ did die for me. I want to turn away from my sins and my failures now. I ask that You, Lord Jesus, come into my heart as my Saviour and my Lord. Fill me now with your Holy Spirit and please help me live for You and strengthen me day by day. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
God bless you.
